Ask AfterLoss

A context-aware assistant available from the header of an AfterLoss case. It answers practical questions about the case the user is in, with awareness of the deceased's jurisdiction, the current phase of the bereavement, the role the user holds, and the documents already collected.

What it does

The assistant is reachable from a panel that opens beside whatever the user was working on. Typical questions: where to find a particular form, what the next step in probate is, which organisations still need to be told, which document is missing for a task. Answers reference the case's actual state rather than generic guidance, and link to the relevant tasks, documents and scripts inside the case.

What problem it solves

Bereavement administration produces a long tail of small "what now" questions. Looking each one up in a generic chatbot returns generic answers; asking inside the case returns answers that already know the deceased's name, jurisdiction, the phase of work, and which documents have been uploaded. That removes a great deal of the work of asking.

Where it sits in the procedural sequence

The assistant sits across the case rather than at any particular step. In the longer term, the AfterLoss wiki itself will be one of the grounding sources the assistant draws on; concept entities and procedural guides become directly addressable from inside the product.
