Muslim Association of Funeral Directors (MAFD)

The Muslim Association of Funeral Directors is a members' association of accredited Muslim funeral directors in the UK. Member firms are listed in the MAFD directory and bound by the association's code of practice for handling the religious and practical aspects of an Islamic funeral together — including timely collection, ghusl facilities or coordination, kafan shrouding, janazah logistics, and shroud-only burial where the cemetery permits it. MAFD membership is voluntary, in the same way that membership of NAFD or SAIF is voluntary for the wider UK funeral profession. Membership is one filter among several when families choose a funeral director — alongside trade-body membership, the local mosque's recommendation, and the National Burial Council directory.
