Muslim Council of Britain (MCB)¶
The Muslim Council of Britain is the largest cross-denominational umbrella body for Muslim organisations in the UK, with several hundred affiliated mosques, schools, charities, and professional networks. For families arranging a Muslim funeral, the MCB is a useful starting point in two situations: where there is no existing connection to a local mosque, and where the family needs guidance on a question their local mosque has not previously encountered (urgent burial during a coroner's investigation, mixed-faith arrangements, repatriation). The MCB does not itself arrange funerals — that work is done by the local mosque, the National Burial Council, the Muslim Association of Funeral Directors, and individual specialist funeral directors. Its role is co-ordination, public representation, and signposting.
